What is IECEx Certification?
It is an international mutual recognition certification scheme for explosion-protected electrical equipment, established in 1997 by the International Electrotechnical Commission Technical Committee (IEC TC), to demonstrate that such equipment complies with the requirements of international IEC standards.
The scheme is intended to maintain the safety level of explosion-protected electrical equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres and to avoid duplicate certification among countries by enabling the principle of “one standard, one test, one certificate, and one mark” to be applied worldwide, thereby eliminating technical barriers to trade.
